    Hi guys,

Apologies to start another tyre thread but I have done my research and am looking for some additional advice please....

Recently bought an IS250 - which came with 4 different brands of tyres. One Bridgestone, one Continental and 2 pieces of s**t. In typical dealer fashion, they put the two decent brands on the front rather than the rear.

So, I am essentially looking to buy two new tyre's for the rear with the intention of the leaving the two on the front as they are. I tend to drive quickly (not speeding before anyone jumps in) - fine in the dry but twitchy in the wet. So essentially I'm looking at getting tyres with good wet grip. I've been offered two Hankooks for a decent price. From review, they seem to have good grip and wear at a reasonable pace.

Has anyone had any experience with these tyre's? Any recommendations outside of them? The tyre size is 245 45 R17.

All help/advice greatly appreciated as always!

I had a Mondeo diesel back in 2005, factory Hankooks on it, 'twas newish at the time (few months old). I did about 20k miles on them, found them very good in fairness. Can't remember what model they were exactly. Replaced them with Dunlop sports and tbh I didn't notice a huge difference if any so even when well worn they were ok. I drove that Mondeo in a spirited enough fashion most of the time.

The IS isn't all that tail happy, so the good tyres are probably better off on the front. Over-steer is easier to correct anyway unless you completely over cook it!
I've had Hankooks before, but only a 205. They were fine actually, fairly good wet grip. Might be different on that tyre size, but I'd take a chance if you get a good price.
What price did you get might I ask?

Hankooks are a reasonable tyre, but not great. AFAIK they come as standard on all Hyundai's.

If you can get away with a 235 (€120ish) instead of a 245 (€180ish), these are excellent:

A friend of mine replaced the factory originals on his EVO IX with Hankooks and he was very pleased with them.

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo are getting very good reviews out there.

Whatever good tyre is on offer from camskill that fits your needs. Hankooks are just fine for your needs.

The is250 is not tail happy at all unless on sheet ice and any reasonably good tyre will do.

I have a soft spot for Falken 452s

You better not tell them why you bought an is250.:mad::mad:
