    Hi all,

Has anyone used this to set up their home network? I see that its available on amazon for about Eur50. I am not a big fan of Linux so would rather stay with Windows.

I have a PC built that I plan on using as a server and I am hoping someone can tell me if its worth the money or not :)

    Thanks

OP, what do you plan on using the server for. Windows Home Server has a more limited feature base then Windows Server.

    Sorry should have specified

It will basically be for streaming media around the home plus for storage and back up. Maybe hosting a website down the line which I have seen is a feature.

When it comes to system software my knowledge is a limited. Thats why I am hoping something like this will make it more straight forward to setup.

If you are going to use it for only those features I can't see any problem with it, that is exactly what it was designed for.

been using whs 2011 for a good while now. used it alot in the beta phase. i like it but the limitations in the hdd's is a pain. max partitions is 2tb. so if you install a 3tb or bigger it will format it with 2 partitions. there are programs coming to help with this. driver bender being one of them. i would be inclined to wait for drive bender or that to go into full release before installing. i know drive bender is very close to release now. and i intend to upgrade to retail whs2011 when that goes into full release.

Thanks for the response. I actually didnt think there was going to be a retail version and that it would be all OEM.

I think I will go ahead and get it anyway. Out of space in my PC and want to get it setup :)
