Repeating off-books?

Hey. I'm repeating off books this year. Since I won't technically be a student does that mean I can't use the gym or the health centre? Will I still be allowed to partake in any societies or anything? I'm guessing I won't but just checking.

Also I've been told by my tutor etc. that it will be a very tough year. Does anyone have any experience of doing it?
    Thanks!

You can use the gym/pool etc, but you have to pay about €80 or something like that - get a letter from Student Records stating that you're off-books for the year, bring it in to the sports centre people and you can pay your €80 and get a sports centre membership card. Once you have that fee paid, you can also take part in any sports club activities that use the centre.

The Health Centre is a bit harder - you usually have to pay, but it still works out cheaper than a GP visit. As for societies - they generally won't check (or care) whether or not you're registered for the year, so again, that's fine. Every society I've been involved with has had one or two regulars who were off-books for the year.

It is definitely a tough year, in many ways, some of which will blindside you. You're pretty much on your own (your previous class have gone ahead and you may not know anyone in the new year group), you're often excluded from email lists, and you have no tutorials or labs to give you structure. It's a very strange and uncomfortable way to spend a year, but sometimes it's for the best.

Send me a PM if you want to ask any more questions.
