After being at a few weddings/christenings recently was on the lookout for a better quality compact camera. After a bit of research settled on the Sony DSC-HX9V. Checked the Sony centre in Blanchardstown - they don't stock it but said their branch in Dundrum had it for €399 with €45 cashback until September 25th. Amazon were looking for £299 delivered. After a bit more googling found it on Conns Cameras for €350 which drops to €305 with the cashback. Shipping is €10 extra but I live in Dublin so I called into the shop yesterday and ordered one as none in stock. Cashback offer applies form order date.

Great to see an Irish retailer offering good value.

As far as I know you just have to mail a copy of your receipt to Sony and they post you out a cheque. I'll post back here when I get the camera.

I done it on a Sony TV last Christmas.
It was 2k in Power city but you email copies of the receipt and the form from within the box and i got the VAT back, just under €400.00 :D

Be careful about the memory Sony uses - the Memory Stick Duo is only supported, which is a lot dearer and less compatible than the SD cards that most others use.

The HX9v supports both SD and Memory Stick Duo

They're not as bad now, most Sony cameras take SD or Memory sticks Duo's.. My last few Sonys have taken SD cards..

For the Littlewoods camera the code CR6KTseems to work for 20% off so €99 for that camera. Seems a steal to me!
