that's horrible they made you reinstall Windows, a log in password can be removed in 2 minutes with the right software :(

anyway i don't know where you can Office Starter without paying for it but maybe you could try some of the free alternatives such as Open Office or use Google Docs from your Gmail account

Yes this is the solution that i was givin after he took remote control of mt Laptop threw dell connect and burnt some software to a cd which was supposed to unlock or brake the code password to gain access but to no avail so this was the option i was left with.. I have downloaded open office but would have liken to re install all software that was on the laptop before this little password issue !!

Did you re-install Windows from a CD or from the hidden partition on all Dell's (using F8 on startup)?

If you installed from the partition, all software that came with the machine should be automatically re-installed.

It was reinstalled from a cd, i do not know of this hidden partition you speak of but had gone threw f8 a few times with him on the phone as dell brought me threw the process so i suspect the hidden partition is no longer available as they did not speak of this or attempt to access it as that sound like it would have been a lot easier. But in fairness to dell who rang me back this afternoon and took control of said laptop and reinstalled other drivers i presume that had not been on the drivers and utilities cd and siad the machine was now working perfectly..As for the Word starter i have been told that this is no longer available on laptop as it is only installed once and the fact that we had wiped it meant that it was gone and could not be re installed. A new package would have to bought..
It does seem a bit harsh to go about this, this way as i taught been such a simple password they could have managed to get by it or have someway of going around this sort of thing without tese measures but what do i know.. Next time i'll just find my local computer hacker and give it to him for a mear 30 seconds :)

To avoid piracy you could try the open source route, try installing LibreOffice, its the most up to date version of open office (its the one continued by the community) and works relatively speaking the same way
