[Rant] Galway County Council: 2 MONTHS to be told they'd sent me the WRONG forms

Finished an undergrad course and was in receipt of the grant.

Accepted for a postgraduate course and requested application forms in June.

Sent a much shorter application form (just a renewal form) in July and submitted the completed application within a week or two.

Just *today*, after making a 500 km round-trip journey moving my stuff for the new academic year, I receive a reply - a week before registration and several weeks after being forced to pay a €500 deposit despite already being on the margins of society.

Now being told that, because of changes made to the Student Support Act 2011, it is now necessary to instead make a "full" application once again. But, as they're soooooo nice, I don't have to provide all the support documents this time, namely proof of identity.

This is most inconvenient. I mean, could they not have messed up so royally in the first place and just have sent the correct forms?

It took this long just to get this far. Most disappointing. To think that these clowns' mistakes have serious and far-reaching implications on families.

I felt the need to air this major cock-up and pity anyone else who is in the same boat.

Getting into college is the easy part. Getting a timely response in this chaotic system from these people yet again proves to be the ultimate challenge. Sometimes you really have to wonder: just why bother?
