Was just filling out the ds-160, towards the end it asks for two points of contact in Ireland who are not relatives/immediate family, etc. Can I say anyone for this - friends, lecturers, etc?

Yes. I put my mother's friend and an old employer/boss. Anyone will do fine as long as they reside in Ireland and are not related to you :)
