Where to buy solid fuel?

    Hey Guys

Ok as things would have it, decided to pull out oil heating and in process of changing to gas, then find out that gas is going up 21% it could only happen to me.

One advantage I have is that I done up my house about 2 years ago and insulated the thing to no end so very easy to heat. So I have a fireplace in sitting room and to be honest when I have a good fire going I can heat up the house a good bit, I just wish I had put in back boiler but I didn't so no crying over spilt milk

So I am living in D15 and looking to buy solid fuel, was in Athlantic(I know worst place ever) and just priced some stuff. 10 euro for everything and will last no time. So I was wondering where is best to buy turf? timber? coal?

Years ago I know guys who used to go around the roads selling but that seems to be no longer available. Am I best to go outside Dublin and try to buy? Need trailer thou.

Was wondering if this is good value? Just found them on web: http://www.solidfuel.ie/Turf-p/fbtdxx-bb.htm

This is only place I have found on the web, is there other places?

I just bought 184 bales of briquettes ( 2 pallets) for 400 euro.I also have 2 huge tree trunks (thanks to Dublin City Council) and also a large stock of turf too,(from a friend in Galway)

Any builders providers will undercut any of the DIY stores by miles when it comes to fuel like coal, turf, wood, briquettes and gas bottles.

Woodies and Atlantic (both owned by the same company) are ripp offs, yet every auld fella and auld one seems to think they are great.

With anything heating related,a good insulated home is the key to keeping warm and cosy.

Ahh now I am a country boy but too long in the city now, would just end up falling down a bog hole. Rather to get someone to do the dirty work, gone is the year when I was a young fellow heading to bog to fill trailers for the winter, used to get a great tan!!

Spot on, when I was doing up house everyone was saying not to use insulated slabs and if so put the thin ones in, I said feck that and put in the bigger ones at extra cost, but has made the house a great job, last year with a really old oil boiler I just put in one fill, then of course when I tried to empty the tank there was still 200 ltrs left in tank. This was with the cold spell as well.

Next step is to put gas in, then run some solar panels in and start using the sun more!!

Found this guy, http://www.turftimber.com/index-1.html but I wasn't sure can you burn standard turf in Dublin anymore?
