What happens if you don't register in time?

I have to wait until I get the results for my re-sit exam (seeing as it'll determine if I repeat the year or not) before I can register but theres a pretty tight time gap to register. They put the results online on the 15th and you've to register by the 17th. In the event that I failed to register on time would I have wait until the following year before I can go back to college?

Results are set at 14th, I thought? I'm pretty sure there's late registration anyway. When I repeated 2 years ago I had to wait for a letter from my course head, took a while. But be on the safe side and register asap anyway.
