I lived in Canada for a few years and got a drivers license over there but since the standards are higher in Ireland they wouldn't let me exchange it for an Irish one. The theory test here is insane, I just barely passed it on my 3rd attempt. The Canadian theory test was a joke in comparison. How does the Irish practical test compare to north American ones? In Canada the hardest part of the practical test was parallel parking, I failed the 1st time round cuz I bumped into one of the dummy cars I was parking between. I hear theres no parallel parking in the Irish one so whats the hardest part of it then?

    Hi

I'm not sure if there is a "hardest part" per say. You will be asked to do a turnabout in the road and a reverse around the corner. I never found these difficult, others do. It just depends on the person.

What is way harder in the Irish test is the standard of marking. A friend of mine did his test in california. They allow 45 driving errors!! Here You're only allowed 8 grade 2 (serious) faults and no grade 3 (dangerous/potentially dangerous faults).

    Have a look at:http://www.drivingtesttips.ie

    That helped me alot.
