My Dell is falling apart. The screen has broken of one of the hinges and the surrounding plastic is also broken.

Is it possible to get a new casing with screws etc. I need to hold the screen now to keep it up, its my fault because when i took it apart i mixed up all the screws...:o

The exact same thing has happened to my inspiron 1521.... is a joke because I just opened the laptop up one day and the hinges went.
Now all the plastic at the front around the on/off switch as come off and I have to hold the screen in place too.
I have never given this laptop any abuse because it is always sitting on my desk!!
I just came on here to look for advice for buying a new laptop because I dont know how you would go about fixing it.

Corkie, Could you let me know if you are able to get urs fixed and if the cost is worth it!!

My five year old dell is falling apart, but nothing some superglue, blue tack, tin foil, some wire from a coat hanger and lots of PVC tape won't fix!

Same thing happened with my Studio 17. It's not the first problem I have had. Two motherboards have gone, wifi card, monitor, power adapter. Not sure what else they replaced when they had it opened numerous times.

Funny thing is the first casing I got was perfect but they replaced it last year with the wifi. Now this POS broke and they refuse to honour the warranty which I have until 2013.

Never going Dell again and I can't use this laptop now as the 17inch screen is too heavy to be held up by one hinge. Sorry for the rant. Just needed to vent.

IMO throw it out and get any other make.
