How do you go about applying for summer jobs abroad?

I am starting a bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Sociology and English at Maynooth next week.

But during the summer next year I would like to do something extra for experience purposes.

I was wondering how do I go about applying for a job in America or other parts of Europe?

Would it be recommended to book my flights early so that they won't be as expensive?

Is there many I can apply online for because I worry I may spend a lot of money sending CV's off to faraway places when I will need to put in as many as possible to find a job.
