If you go to www.detailer.ie they have all the products you'll need ;)

I personally recommend Meguiar's Hyperwash. I wash my car once a week and I bought it from that site nearly a year ago. It's super concentrated so all you need is a small bit to make huge amounts of foam. All at an excellent price too ;)

EDIT: Beaten to it. **** ya Andy!

If you use CONCEPT TAR & GLUE REMOVER first and then the same brand of shampoo u wont go wrong. U can get it in most motorfactors, not cheap ut well worth it. I worked in main dealers and thats what we used.

    Regards
    Jolly:)

I bought steam cleaning fluid from Tescos when it was on offer. I was spray the car with a dilution of that, then spong wash it with some Simoniz wash and wax (offer at Tesco ;) ). After that I dry int with spray on shine and a micro fibre towel.. if it needs a polish I use either AutoGlym Resin or Auto Glymm Showroom Shine (Aerosol).

I have used the same process to revive the father in laws unloved car - just added a session of general purpose cutting compound after the wash - while still wet of course.

I have found the best window polish to be Karcher Spray - but HELP I have nearly ran out. What else is good?

i use dodo juice sour power to compliment my wax (dodo juice supernatural). Have also used chemical guys glossworkz......excellent stuff too. Buy all my stuff from cleancar.ie. Just bear in mind if its shine and reflections your after longterm, you're going to have to put in the effort of claying, polishing and waxing/sealing your cars paintwork. Sounds like a lot of work but well worth it in the end.

We have Meguiar's Glass Cleaner Concentrate. It's €26.95 for a US Gallon, and the spray bottle is an additional €2.50. I know, I know, guts of €30 on Glass Cleaner? Yeah, BUT, it dilutes 10:1 so you're buying over 41 litres of Glass Cleaner. Might sound excessive, but at least you'll never have to buy glass cleaner again. Ever :D You only use about 90-100ml when doing the inside/outside of a normal car.

You should give their Basics of Bling shampoo a bash when your Sour Power runs out. It's considerably cheaper, and works just as well IMO.

    http://www.detailer.ie/store/index.php/shampoos/dodo-juice-basics-of-bling-shampoo.html - €9.95 for 500ml

    No probs.

I'm happy to answer any car care questions. One of the few subjects I can talk about and have half a clue about what I'm saying!! :D

I only use meguairs products but I'm an amateur that gets bored half way through. Tech was 2.0 is excellent on darker colours. Turtle wax ice range isnt bad for a quick detail in the weeks after doing a thorough job in my experience.

Not sure what you mean by looks sunburnt. Assuming you just want to work by hand, the best thing you can do is begin by washing the car, removing any tar that's on there, then use a clay bar. Claying the car will be the biggest improvement you'll make to the paintwork by hand. It'll leave the paint feeling very slick and makes polishing / waxing much, much easier. It'll also prolong the life of the wax as it bonds much better after clay.

Once you've clayed the car, use a pre-wax cleanser to freshen up the paint and remove any light oxidation that may be present and holding the gloss back.

Then, finally, you're ready to get going on the wax and add some richness to the finish. The wax will also protection the new finish.

You couldn't go wrong with this kit - http://www.detailer.ie/store/index.php/detailing-kits/dodo-juice-complete-kit.html

It has everything you need, all the way from shampoo to the wax. The waxes are 'color-charged' so it depends on the colour of your car. The waxes are specifically for 'light' / 'warm' / 'dark' colours. Purple Haze would be the one for a nice rich black finish.

Whats the best way of cleaning the inside of the windscreen? What kind of applicator does the best job of minimising streaks?

    warm water...add some white vinegar.
    cuts through anything...smoke film etc.
    wipe dry with paper towel

not the nicest of smells but it will have your window gleaming !!!

    Cheers for the tips!
Will be investing in a machine polisher with you guys over the next week, the 7 has over ten years of swirl marks that need serious attention.

Hey seperate, would do you know of any products that would be specific for the cleaning/waxing/polishing of the fairings of motorbikes?

None inparticular, but I can't see them being a million miles from painted parts on a car?

I'd a guy in a couple of weeks ago to get some matte painted parts on a bike cleaned and protected. All went to plan using Swissvax Opaque - same as you would on a car.

I have been looking for the answer to this for years and I have found it.

    AutoGlym Glass Polish.

It goes on like a normal polish, dries to a haze and you can buff it off. It leaves a completely smooth, 100% streak-free finish. I know this for a fact because I tested it (got the sun shining straight through the windscreen) and it was perfectly clear.

If you use a Meg's even coat applicator pad to apply it, you'll see all the dirt from the glass on the pad afterwards.

No bother, was thinking that myself but just wasnt too sure that I can use the same wax on the plastic fairings on a bike that I would on the paintwork of a car.

I find this stuff really good http://www.ecocarclean.ie/vulcanet.html. Was sceptical of it, but a guy in a bike shop showed how it worked on a pretty filthy bike outside the shop, so I bought a tub and was very impressed with the result. You wipe it clean with the tissues, then buff it with the supplied cloth, very nice result. I'd say a proper waxing would probably give longer lasting results though.
