    Hi

My cousin (aged 31, moderate learning disability, requires 24 hr care) has recently moved into his own place, it is in an area which is new to him. I am trying to think of ways for him to develop his social network and become part of the local community. He lives in a medium sized town in Mayo. Becouse he is currently working on improving his concentration and has some challanging behaviours, things like joining the local tidy towns committee or going to church are not feasable options at the moment. Any ideas would be appreciated.

How about the local GAA or other sports club? He might be able to help out by looking after equipment or something?

you should have a look and see if there are any arch clubs in his area! they are great for meeting people with similar disabilities and volunteers. activities and social meet ups are organised . They generally would be used to working with people who display challenging behaviours also.
