    Hi

Curently starting to archive digital images onto Delkin DVD Rs

so decided to look at scanning all my old negs and slides

Have an old Minolta Scsi Scanner

Would like to get one that does ICE correction but as Nikon dont sell coolscans anymore wondering peoples opinions on ....

Buying .. Make and Model Cost ? , Scan time with correction etc

    Rental Options for Nikon coolscan

I would prefer to scan myself rather than post to a bureau etc due to risk of loss or damage ,the images have no commerical value

Id say there are at least 1000 if not 2000 images or more quantity wise

    Hi,
I believe epson do two models the V300 & V500. I've read about them online but haven't seen or used them but they should meet all your requirements.

Thanks DxDuff , I was looking more for a dedicated film scanner as opposed to a flatbed with attachment but for the price I might try just to see what the scan quality is like

rua red in tallaght allow you to use their scanners for next to nothing; i think one of them (fajitas or sineadw would know) can do multiple slides at one pass.

I'm lucky enough to have a Coolscan V, but it takes a lot of patience. B&W 35mm in a strip is quick - 5 mins for 6 frames, auto fed. Individual mounted colour slides will take 2-3 minutes each. That's before rotating, cropping, and any correction you want to do.

The Coolscan V is available on eBay for around €300, but the quality is very good. If you have 120 format, then the Coolscan 9000 is your man, but it's uber expensive.

I've seen output from www.scancafe.com, and it looked good.

You'll need the patience of a saint to do 2000 negs yourself, but if you're looking for a quality flatbed then check out the Canon CanoScan 9000f. You can buy them new locally for little over €220 and a bit cheaper online.

I use it for scanning my MF negs and the quality is excellent. The bundled software (Silverfast SE) is clunky but good, scanning at full resolution is slow work (up to 5 mins per frame).

On "pixmania" they have the Epson Flatbeds, 2 or 3 different models and the Canoscan 9000. Prices seem ok too. Haven't looked at other sites/stores yet
I have only used a slide scanner I got in Aldi, its only ok, I will be investing in something better soon as I have about 1500 slides I'd like to copy too.
