Although the 2011 season is not over yet, there has been some exceptional performances this season and athletes who have been outstanding in their event.
My athlete of the year has to be Sally Pearson...pretty much unbeatable all year in an event that is ultra competitive and that run in Daegu (second fastest of all-time) was astonishing. It would have to be something very special by another athlete over the next few meets that would change my mind.

Who do you think deserves the award?

Womens; Pearson i suppose yeah, Cheryuiot next best.

Mens; Mo Farah gets my vote, even though Rudisha did nothing wrong.

The overall winner has to be Pearson though.

Yep, close between Farah and Rudisha for the men's, I'd probably slightly lean towards Farah.

Cheryuiot has to be number 1.She looks unbeatable and also won world cross country as well as 5k and 10k double in the track work champs.
Her 14.20 5k was run of a slow first 2k and Like Farah looks like she win if it's a fast pace or slow.
farah showed guts to come back and win the 5k but Cheryiout having done the double would be the number 1.

An athlete who should get a mention is:
Christian Taylor in the triple jump he jumped 17.96 which is the 10th longest jump in history and ranks him 5th on the all time list.
He has also ran 45.34 second for 400m and he has run 20.76 seconds for the 200m and jumped 8.19 for the long jump.
Would love to see him take up the Decathlon.

Great to see her running the 100m in Rieti, I'm sure she needs to get this out of her system. Sub 11 might be possible for her there.
