What are people's views on Marian Apparitions, whether church approved or not?

Take Akita for example, it's authorised and a very stark warning was given (which echoed what was said at Garabandal, yet Garabandal isn't authorised) If the church is recognising the warning, miracle and 3 days of darkness, why isn't it being taught to people? I know if in was teaching children or trying to convert people, selling the whole warning event would seem difficult to sat the least!

Similarly is it not somewhat anti faith if everyone is punished anyway during the chastisement?

Padre Pio was mentioned in one visit as being one of 2 living people (the other being Joey Lamangino. (while Conchita is to reveal the date 8 days in advance, there is no reference that she will be there to witness it). Lamangino is now 80 and padre Pio is obviously dead. Conchita lives in the US but rarely speaks of the apparitions.

Finally, on a theoretical level, what kind of reaction would we see if the warning takes place?

In no particular order of likelyhood:

    1) Bogus claims

    2) Hysteria

    3) Satan masquerading as an angel of light

Just to be clear, is your post directed at Catholics, or just anyone? Otherwise any reasonable discussion will be overwhelmed by posts such as the one above!! ;)

Non-Catholics don't believe that the Mother of God, through the direction of the Holy Trinity, is sending messages to the human race, and believe that it is either an illusion, or Satan.

In the old testament God sent prophets to warn the people of impending doom. Our Lady ususally comes to warn mankind that we are on a slippery slope to perdition, and with the remedy to counter-act our sinful natures. (Prayer, Sacrifice, etc. )True Apparitons are never in conflict with the teaching of the faith. The church has dismissed many so-called appartions as coming from either satan, or that the person conveying the messages is delusional!

Many messages come with a warning, such as at Fatima, and sometimes accompany some form of miracle. (Fatima, Lourdes, Akita). Garabandal has not been oficially approved (yet), and Conchita has stated that there will be a miracle in her lifetime, she is now in her early sixties!

Was in Medjugorde this year, amazing place. Some stark warnings given there about the End Days. We met Japanese there, who told us about Akita, also amongst some other interesting events we met Native American Indians who told us about their own particular phrophesies, ie, the birth of the White Buffalo. Thing is, whatever shape or make it may involve, ie the Torah, The Koran, The Bible, ect, the phrophesies and warnings of ALL religions, plus those of the Mayans, Irish and countless diverse others would all appear to be converging and in agreement that we are indeed living through the end times. But, what made the hair stand up on my neck was the amount of building work going on out there. When we commented on this we were told in broken English by a local that they were NOT building for pilgrims and "believers", but for the many, many "un-believers" who will flock there in fright, when the promised sign of the end appears for all to see. Which, he said, is expected very shortly, and will herald the oncoming "Great Chastisement", preceded by three days of total Global darkness. Now, it's up to every individual to make up their own mind, take it or leave it, but personally I take it as a chance to get my own house in order, spiritually. And looking around at the shattered state of Ireland at present.....well, what can I say?

Are there any instances of Mary alledgedly appearing to non-Catholics?

Particulary to those who would describe themselves as Committed Christians or Born Again Christians?

No this has never happened. She only seems to appear to the devout Catholics. Bit crazy that anyone believes this really.

Mary appeared in Siluva in 1608 to non-Catholics. Little shepherds saw what they described as a beautiful woman, dressed in white and blue, with a baby in her arms, enveloped in gentle splendor. The Lady wept bitterly and suddenly disappeared.

While Conchita may be in her 60s, the miracle is also due to happen during Joey Lamangino's lifetime and he turned 80 this year.

The Church's justification for not approving Garabandal yet because they wanted to see if "The Warning" will happen. Which seems a bit of a cop out?

It must be very confusing for Christians and Catholics with the apparitions. on one hand the apparitions give grave warnings and on the other the church says, "you can believe them if you like".
