    Hi all,

Just looking for advise for how to lock the bike securely when on long distance tours. Im hoping to do a Mizen to Malin head cycle the end of the month. If I can I'd love to camp along the way but Im worried about my bike...ie when Im asleep in the tent where do I leave the bike so its not nicked? has anyone any advise/experince in this. I've locked a bike to rails before in supposeldy safe areas only to have my back wheel taken off (it wasnt quick release so they took a spanner to it)

any advise of campsites that have lock ups along that route would be appreciated!

    thanks

If there is a solid immovable object I lock it to that.

If there isn't, I lock it to itself and put one of the tent poles through the rear wheel in such a way a thief would have to bring the tent down to steal the bike, waking me up.

To be honest I think the risk out in rural/wilderness areas is very low anyway. I don't tend to sleep in campsites but I wouldn't think they are very high risk either compared to a city.

Putting it in the tent would require a seriously large tent.
