Is there Import tax on alloys from england

    Wanna buy a new set of alloys online but will i get slapped with a massive tax when they get into the country????

    No, its within the EU - so no tax or duty.

    I would have thought that the OP would have to pay VAT , if not in the UK then here upon bringing them into the country ?

    +1, VAT will be payable either there or here. It'll be included in the online price, anyway - there'll be no more to pay on arrival.

    VAT is not an import tax.

    Best option is to pay UK VAT but retailers who sell above a certain threshold of goods to the Republic have to register for VAT with our Revenue Commissioners so they will then charge Irish VAT, this is why people like Amazon and Expansys suddenly change the VAT from UK to IRL when you're checking out.

    There is no other tax or tariff to worry about, single market and all that.

    surely he would have no choice other than pay the vat in u.k and then cant be charged vat in the roi as its already been paid
