A possible solution to the fear?

I am embarrased to say that fear of the dentist has stopped me going for years and now I need a crown on my front tooth, fillings and probably more.

I have been to the dentist once almost 15 years ago for an extraction.

I have considered going to new york as they use the gas to calm nervous patients.

    On to a touchy subject...

Many moons ago, while in college, I smoked marijuana.

This would be the perfect solution as it would remove the fear and i could get on with it but I cant see a decent dentist allowing me to do this.

How did you deal with the fear of the dentist?

Hey I know I already sent you a PM on the other thing but just saw this so here I am again.

So as I said loads do the sedation, which sounds like it would be great for you, I always wanted this as a child/teen as I was so scared of the dentist.
My parents wouldn't get it for me, not sure how dear it would of been then maybe it cost to much. Check out the PM I sent and see their cost anyway.

My Dad takes Xanex before the dentist, I did that a few times as a teen and as far as I know they don't have a problem with it but maybe a dental professional could comment on that.
You could visit your doctor and he could prescribed something like that for you if it's ok, it's not like you would be mad out of it or anything just help with the nerves etc.

I wouldn't recommend hash at all not that a dentist would allow it but really I reckon that could go the other way and freak you out while in the chair!

It always helps to just find a really good dentist and talk though your fears, my saving grace was a lovely dentist from the dental hospital and seeing as I have moved on from her not been able to put her hands in my mouth and sending me home because of my shaking to sailing through root canals, crowns etc I really do think if you find someone you are comfortable with it will help a lot too.

Sorry to hear you are so scared, I know it's awful but you can do it, read through my crown posts again not once did I talk about loads of pain or anything and I can even get four or five fillings replaced in one go once they numb you up you don't know the difference. Have someone sit outside and wait for you and don't be scared to tell them how scared you are, I ask the dental nurse to hold my hand for my injections they get it all the time. If you're going to try something try the xanex first, no point paying for the sedation when xanex could help, start small.

OP turn up stoned and the dentist will most likely send you home, you cannot consent to treatment in an altered state. Swanangles advice is solid.

Thought it might be too simple. Just have to man up and get the job done.

Aston Martin- I was like yourself for years up till about 2 years ago, absolutely terrified at 45 yrs of age :( when I had to go after years. Kept telling myself i'd be fine (positive mental attitude) and everything was ok. But apart from all that you should find as i found that the treatments have advanced in leaps and bounds over the last few years. All you'll feel is a tiny jab for the freezing and no more. Then just lie back ,close your eyes and dream about sunshine and sand in the Bahamas. I've been to the dentist a few times over the last couple of years and as lately as last week with no real fear. Hope this helps. You've nothing to fear.
