Hi, I have a samsung galaxy s. It has started to act up a little recently so I want to restore it to factory settings via kies(it is running a standard rom, not rooted). Is there anyway to back up the apps I have installed or is it just a case of reinstalling them manually?

There is one app I have paid for, can I just re download that for free now or what is the story with that?

    thanks!

If you paid for the app you won't have to pay again. Dunno about backing up on non rooted phone as I only ever used rooted phones.

Go into settings > accounts and sync and switch Auto-sync on. They will download from the market again when you log in.

I'm not sure if this is a new feature but I only noticed it recently after wiping a HTC Desire, on reboot all of the apps began to appear again.

There is also an app that can backup apps and data, if you don't want to risk relying solely on Android -

ok factory restore complete. I logged onto the market and was able to re-download any paid apps(I only have one but I would have been pissed off if that was gone!)

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to automatically reinstall apps so I guess I'll be busy for the next while getting all my apps back!
