Fastcom - Gaming impossible

Moved up into a new house today in Sligo, they have 3mg Fastcom broadband, and so far I've had nothing but problems.

Downloading seems grand, but when it comes to the Playstation I'm getting endless "server's not found" problems. Sign in is grand, but for Mw2 I'm being stuck with the "fecthing playlists/unlocks and ranks" screen, as with Black Ops.

Does anyone know if there's a problem with Fastcom in general, or if there's any settings or configurations that I could change to help make it better?

    Thanks, Lee.

Hrm, does the connection go into a router or straight into a wall socket? if the later, you could try opening ports for the PS3 (should be plenty of guides of which ones online), that might help.

Into a router, then wirelessly through the attic into the playstations on the 1st floor (>15 feet)

Whats the NAT type? strict, moderate, open? 1,2,3?!

Please perform an Internet Connection test in the Network settings menu of your PS3. Report your findings here.

It's an open nat currently, my friend said that it was closed a few months ago but that eventually with customer support help he got it opened.

    Ip Address: Successful
    Internet Connection: Successful
    PSN: Successful
    UPnP: Available
    NAT: Type 2
    Download Speed: 2.5Mbps
    Upload Speed: 1.4Mbps

Doing a speedtest there I got this:

Also, since then I tried running a LAN cable directly from the router into the playstation and Mw2 and Blops connected instantly without any problems. Have you any idea what's causing the problem, the router is in the attic, and both playstations are on the first floor..

At this stage, I think the problem is obvious. It's your WIFI connection that's at fault, not your internet connection. Either you are too far away from the access point to pick up a good signal or there are too many competing access points close to you giving interference.

    what type of modem lee?

if it is wireless interference, try changing channels to see if you get a stronger and more stable connection on a different channel than the one you are on

also maybe just move the modem to a different socket in the house.I presume the socket in the attic is where the line comes into the house.if wired correctly ext sockets shouldnt notice a much of a downgrade in the signal strenght in the speeds coming into the house
