XP home/ XP pro backup

I have an issue with restore from backup. I backed up using the windows backup utility in xp pro,3 days later my HDD gave up so I replaced it and rebuilt it with xp home. I downloaded the backup/restore utility and attempted to restore but it keeps failing, are the two incompatible? or maybe I am missing something really…

I get the warning that some data may not be restore because of features of the origional file system. Then an unexpected end of backup message appears.Any assistance appreciated.
