Internal rising wall foundation

    Hi all,

The top layer of my external rising walls will be made from ICF and the internal rising walls are built from block but have one more level to go before being complete.

I was wondering is it worthwhile to also build the top layer of the internal walls with a quinlitte block of some kind to help elimate cold bridging or are they considered less risk because they are inside the building envelope?

    thanks in advance

may i ask what your architect is recommending? :) anywhere you can remove thermal bridging you should. if i understand you correctly:confused: the use of such a block(reduced thermal conductivity) would help, but it sounds like someone else should be worrying about this on your behalf:)

    Hi Bryan,

I agreed the specification of icf external rising wall and internal block rising walls with my architect :-)
But if I see opportunities for improvement myself along the way I'm gonna research them and no better place to check along the way for info than here, didnt find much on this particular question so thought I would ask - thanks for your advice

I'll price the quinnlite then make my decision, I still have a few days to spare:-)

without looking at the detail its seems like a no brainer (qiunlite or similar approved! there are other slightly more expensive but even better thermally). do mention to your arch/eng to check structure etc (there are different strength rated thermal blocks)
