j1 landlord trouble

A bunch of us were supposed to be staying in a condo in Boston for the months of June, July and August. We got evicted near the end of July and we moved out on the 29th of that month. The reasons we got evicted were excessive noise and disruption so the landlord was under pressure from the neighbours and management company.
We were a very tidy group in fairness. We kept the place very clean and did a thorough job of cleaning before we left. The condo was unfurnished when we arrived and thats the way we left it. There was no damage to the building at all. We have pictures to prove this.
The landlord received the security deposit obviously. So our reactor warned us that the landlord might try to scare us into giving him August rent, and so he did. We got very threatening phone calls and emails from him requesting the cash. This went on for all of August.
Then out of nowhere he rings ciee and tells them that we have caused $4000 of damage to his property. This claims are completely fake and we have photos to prove it, but ciee seem to be on his side. We received a threatening email from them also.
We have no intentions in giving in to this guys scare tactics. We feel like we have been abandoned by our sponsors and there is nobody on our side. How do we stand up to this crook. Does anybody know how to proceed?

Ask your J1 visa company (USIT, Go4Less or SayIt) for help. Who is your 'reactor'?

Well firstly, I assume since it is September you are now back in Ireland?

I would reply to CIEE explaining you ensured that the place was left as you found it and enclose copies of the pictures showing the clean house. Ask them to show you any pictures etc. of the damage you may have caused. And round off the email by explaining you cannot pay any of these fines unless you receive some form of documentation detailing the alleged damage.

Send something similar to the Landlord. At all times of course remember to be extremely civil and polite! At the end of the day if you are back at home you have all the time in the world to sort this out.

Oh and please OP, keep us updated on how this pans out. I would be interested to hear how it goes.
