Selling this on behalf of a friend.

Specialized Tarmac SL3, about 5 months old. Only used on race days, never crashed.

    Size 52cm.

SRAM Force Groupset (comes with Rotor Rings, but can install original unused SRAM Force chainrings if required). Quality finish kit including Ritchey WCS bars and stem, SLR XP Saddle etc... Wheels are not as pictured, wheels are in fact Campagnolo Shamal Clinchers in Titanium finish. Can sell with the pictured 50mm custom build tubulars however (generic lightweight rims built onto DTSwiss 240 hubs and DT Swiss Aerolite spokes) for extra.

Price: €2500 (or €2900 if you want the carbon custom wheels instead).

    Ooh, that's yummy.

Is it just me, or are the majority of second hand high end bikes for sale in the 50 - 54 size bracket??

Nah man, you'd have to pedal it.

    (I'll get my coat...)

I wouldn't say the frame would go on it's own Fran, but I can ask him. Send me on an offer for the frame and I will ask him.

Is the bike anywhere in the munster area?

David, how much would you sell it without any wheels?

Vistafinder, the bike is in Waterford. Leopard Trek, I will ask the seller about selling without wheels, he should have no trouble shifting on those Shamals separately.

Id be intrested in the bike with the clinchers. Are ye doing the rebel tour by any chance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,192 ✭✭✭Quigs Snr

Carbon Wheels are sold already to a teammate.

Vistafinder, the bike is available with the clinchers, but won't be around for very long judging by the interest shown so far. I'm not doing the rebel tour (at least I have no plans to at this stage) and I would not be surprised if the bike was gone by then but you never know.

Leopard Trek, the wheels will probably easily sell at 350, so 2150 for the bike without wheels.

will offer 1950 without the wheels, dont need the saddle or the pedals either,
    Kyle

Nice bike David. Thinks its time to make my Trek a winter bike!

Was the bike a shop build or did you build it up for your friend yourself? Would your mate throw in the SRAM chainrings as well for close to asking price? Subject to seeing the bike, checking fit etc I'd offer €2250 with Shamals.

Leopard Trek, 2000 without wheels, pedals and saddle is the lowest he will go. If you offer that (before anyone else makes an acceptable offer that is!), then it's all yours.

King Kelly, thanks for the offer, you are nearly there... he can sell the wheels separate easily enough and likewise the pedals (which I would take myself if he is separating), but obviously it's easier to sell it all as one lot, so you will need to up the offer a little bit if you want to make that classic Trek of yours the spare bike (and as nice as that Trek is, this thing is quite a step up, I had a spin around the block on it the other day, feels every inch the tour winner that it is - then again so is your Trek, albeit in a different era!). No problem throwing in the SRAM Force rings either.

Will offer 2300 subject to inspection.

Quigs, its not just my bike is from a different era.....!

I was out of contact for the day so unable to continue the bidding. I think LPT is getting a very good deal and am sure he will enjoy a thoroughbred racing machine. I think this bike was worth every penny of the asking price and would have been prepared to pay the full price!

That said my personal reservations about the bike was that its probably a bit too stiff & extreme for my current cycling style and coming from the most comfortable carbon bike ever made I might regret the purchase on some of the pave we call roads around my manor! That said next time I'm heading for Mount Leinster I might think differently....

Bike is provisionally sold to Leopard Trek, pending payment and collection. King Kelly, will let you know if anything changes. To be honest, super racing machine that it is, the SL3 is still pretty comfy, from my limited time on it its positively an armchair compared to some of my Cervelo's. If it had stayed up a few more days I think I might have talked myself into selling another bike and replacing it with this one. I ended up selling my trek because it was always a little big, but I am on the lookout for a 50cm or 52cm one to replace it with at some point.

Bike is too small for me, sorry.

Did you go see it ? what height are you ? What was it like to ride ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Super Freak

    I can't comment on Quig's bike but I have an SL3 size 52CM.

Very comfortable bike. Compared to my previous Focus Cayo it is completely different. Very light, stiff and I don't know how they do it but it really is comfortable.

I'm 5' 6'' (168 in new money) and the 52CM is a very good fit for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,192 ✭✭✭Quigs Snr

For reference the current owner of the bike is 5 9" and rode it to 14th in the Nationals this year (One of the very few occassions this bike was ridden). Vistafinder, you will need to up that offer a small bit. You are close though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 619 ✭✭✭vistafinder

Ok but just 1 Q. Im 5,5 and from looking at all the size charts 52 seems right but if he is 5,9 thats a bit of a difference. I dont want to waist more of your time. If you want me to take a chance at haveing a look I will offer €2400. Some time wednesday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,192 ✭✭✭Quigs Snr

Vistafinder, just checked he's actually 5 8. He also has an original Tarmac SL and an SL2, both of which are 54cm bikes which he feels more comfortable on, so you are correct, the 52cm should be fine for you.

Offer of €2400 accepted. PM me to arrange viewing.
