As far as I know, very little has changed in your out year. Still xp.
In Unum lab ya can install anything you want on your machine, but we were not allowed change OS.
4th year is different tho I think.

Its very handy having your own machine, you will be able to install VB2010 on your machine in here anyway, nobody else will be using that computer.

What are ya using Visual Studio for anyway?

I love to develop my own software/Applications, that's actually the reason I toke a year out after my higher cert. I use Visual Studios 08/10 (.Net) & Netbeans(Java) at the moment.

I wanted to convert all my applications to VS2010.

Very good. I was just hoping ya weren't using Visual Basic thats all.

You should consider thinking up of an idea for the project after xmas so, thats what I did last year.
It made the project easier having a real interest in it.

What do you use for .Net Programming? or you hate .Net all together? :)

Hopefully I can think of more ideas for a project. I am hoping to get work experience though. I am guessing you did software development? What did you pick:

    Data Structures & Algorithms
    Digital Communications
    Networks
    Wide Area Networking

    I am thinking:
    Data Structures & Algorithms
    Networks

There were no options, it was WAN and Data Structures.
I presume it'll be the same this year also, the college used to run a 3rd year Networking course but they don't anymore, thats why the options were dropped.

    Did very little on .net
I done my project on Android, learned a lot from it.

I never considered placement, I had decided to do project from the start.

Well they better have new options. I might import some of my java app to the android but I have never touched android side before. I am more of a windows app guy. I also love making java libraries(if you need a library let me know, I currently have an IO library) and dll.

Ah Android isn't that much of a step on from Java.
If you do get a choice of electives, take Data Structures and Algo, personally I think it should be mandatory - its quite essential.

Sure I'll be chatting to ya in the Unum lab at some stage.
