Returned to college, what are my options for financial assistance?

    Hi Lads,

I currently have a B.Sc. Hons. Level 8 Degree in Architectural Technology. I have since returned to college to now obtain a Level 8 Degree in Architecture as my qualification has been made redundant by ammendments in the Building Control Act 2007 & 2009. I now can not do anything unless I am an Architect including being self employed.

I was wondering if there are any grants or funding available to assist with the cost of college?

Because you already have a Degree you cannot get a grant for another Degree - You can get tax relief on the cost of your fees and possibly some bank loans and also possibly assistance from the student assistance fund

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

What is the student assistance fund? There are people in my class with the same qualifications as myself and they have been accepted on the back to education allowance. I was told that I qualified for this and then paid my fees and returned to college because of this information. 4 weeks into the course it was stopped because I already have a level 8 degree and because I entered into second year of the course. I am currently fighting this decision.

Its very clearly written that you have to be progressing in courses.
