    Surprised these don't get that much coverage they are far more powerful than most Atlantic storms.

    Accuweather used to cover them, but they only show Atlantic and near coast Pacific storms nowadays.

    It should be noted too that a typhoon of say 100 mph winds is stronger than an Atlantic hurricane of 100 mph winds. Sounds crazy, but it's true. Typhoons are quoted on 10-minute mean speeds, Atlantic hurricanes are 1-minute. It's much easier to attain a speed of 100 mph using a 1-minute average, so that's why they'll generally be weaker than an "equal" typhoon! I think there's around a 10% difference if I remember correctly.
