    Mk4/5 1.25 Zetec Fiesta.

Insurance will be a ****, so spend a few hundred on a Fiesta, get your full licence build up 2 years no claims then buy something nice.

Bangernomics thread is where to check for decent cars at reasonable prices. what you using the car for? And do you have a full licence?

My parents said they'll pay for the insurance, I have a provisional but my test is in like 3 weeks. Insurance company said they'd give me back €450 when I pass the test anyway.
Going to be using it for college everyday 10miles back & forth.

Going to have to keep it for four years though so maybe something that won't cause too much hassle.

I'd recommend something small. for 2500 you'd get a Toyota yaris with th vvti engine which I've heard good things about.

If you want to actually keep your money you find VW polo's for cheap. The one I have is a 999cc that had NCT til next year that I got for 350eur and is only 172euro a year to tax. I'd recommend one of them if I were you. The 3 door's have nice stereo's as standard too. Get one without power steering as they usually go cheaper.

I've had a 2004 Polo for over a year now as my first proper car, and it's been a delight. Never a bother on her, the 1.2 is nippy enough for city driving and decent MPG. She does the job on the motorway too (won't win any awards though!), and comfortable and pleasant interior.

Only issue is price wise, the nice ones (like mine!) hold their value very well, so choose carefully if you decide to get one.

Other options are Fiestas, Ka's (though they're pricier than Fiestas) and Micras, among others. But from previous threads, those ones usually pop up time and time again.

Beat me to it, these cars are plentiful on the roads, cheap to run and buy. I recently got a very tatty one for free, running. Theyre out there...

No matter what you buy, it will be a cúnt to insure for the first time. My first car cost me 400 to buy (non running, unroadworthy) and 2280 to insure

    OP you handy with spanners?

My Fiesta cost me €100 but had to do the clutch in it.

So basically I have a Mk4 Fiesta Van with alloys, MP3/SD Headunit, Spots etc... Total Cost..... €250

    Car: €100
    Clutch kit other bits: €150
Alloys (15" props): Free (Had them on a car I broke)
Headunit: Have it a few years, got it brand new and it only came out to go into the van
Spots: Free had them in the shed.

So if your handy with spanners and stuff, pick up a nice Fiesta Mk3/4/5 for a few hundred less/more if your willing to do a bit of work.

Get a decent set of wheels on it, service it, nice headunit, NO tatty bodykits, massive alloys, loud exhausts etc...

Have something where you can learn basic mechanics and be proud of it
