Your Team: First squad you remember supporting?

A discussion on the superthread has got me thinking exactly what was the first LFC squad i fully remember supporting.

Mine was Liverpool FC 1986 -1987 season .

Kenny Dalglish was player manager with Bob Paisley still heavily involved as assistant manager .

We added players like John Barnes & Peter Beardsley that summer (1987) and John Aldridge in Jan 1987 .

We had some great players and even back then i remember thinking Oul Jan Molby had a big frame .:pac:

    1986-1987b.jpg.ashx?width=600

Back row: Mark Lawrenson, Jan Mølby, Mike Hooper, Gary Gillespie, Bruce Grobbelaar, Kevin MacDonald.

Middle row: Roy Evans, Steve Nicol, Steve McMahon, Jim Beglin, Ian Rush, Barry Venison, Paul Walsh, Ronnie Moran.

Front row: Ronnie Whelan, John Wark, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hansen, Craig Johnston, Sammy Lee.

    __________________________________________________________

Whats your first squad you fully remember .........

The Utd 83 team. McGraths afro isn't a patch on Remi Moses one. Should never have got rid of Ron Atkinson imo.

    Liverpool 1980/81

Team contained players such as Clemence, Neal, Alan Kennedy, Ray Kennedy, Dalglish, Hansen, McDermott, Souness, Case, Heighway Lee, Thompson and a young Ian Rush.

Arsenal with Seaman, Adams, Dixon, Winterburn, Linighan, Merson, Wright and Smith. Those are the players I remember off the top of my head. First game I remember supporting Arsenal was the 1993 FA cup final (hence why I remember Linighan who scored the winner in extra time). I was only 7 so can't remember exactly when I started supporting them but I guess was sometime during the 1992/93 season

    arsenal_team_arsenal_1992_1993_3000043.jpg
Edit: Had a look at the team there - shocked to see David O'Leary - thought he retired a few seasons before I started supporting them. Also surprised to see Ray Parlour was already playing back then. I also remember John Jensen and Kevin Campbell. Never heard of Paul Davis even though he apparently played 351 games for us.

Just when Fowler broke onto the scene! Could of been slightly before this as I remember us signing Phill Babb. Around 93/94 anyways when I can properly remember stuff.

    Liverpool 97-98

might have supported them a year before that but I just remember Michael Owen always being my favourite player when I was in primary school and I reckon if I'd been following soccer a year before he started playing I'd have had Fowler as my favourite player... going by that I think this is the first squad I remember...

I'm betting we see a load of these despite the fact that I did not know a single Barca supporter pre-Guardiola.

Well clearly you don't know me... Been a fan since I was 4 and had been, up until June, a season ticket holder for the last 9 years, my father the last 15 years and my grand-dad the last 40 odd. Both were at that game in Wembley. Therein lies the genesis of my supporterdom

    Chelsea of 93/94.

I was going on 8 at the time and just started getting into the season before hand.

It was the year I got my first jersey and I rememebr players like Kharine, Cascarino, Peacock, Wise, Sinclair, Clarke, and of course player manager Glenn Hoddle.

Simpler times when managers were'nt sacked for losing 2 games in a row. :pac:

Rovers 93/94 is the first side I remember going to watch every game, despite having followed Rovers and going to matches since about 1988/1989.

The 2-2 draw in Bishopstown, the clinching win against Shels on a Monday (?) at the RDS, the three replays against Bohs, Eviston's winner at Oriel...

O'Neill, Osam, Eccles, Brazil, Burke, Madden, Alan Byrne, Toal, Geogheghan, Eviston, McGrath

Barcelona wise..96/97: Ronaldo, Baia, Figo, Stoichkov, Bakero, Luis Enrique, Couto, de la Pena, Guardiola.
