Best Media Player?

There's an awful lot of these now:confused::confused: which is the best to get?

Was looking at this Western Digital on Amazon for £71 or this Midte on MemoryC for €50

Another Western Digital, I don't know why this is more expensive than the one above.

I'm looking to connect it to my external harddrives so I can watch movies on different TVs so it needs to be able to play MKVs, ISOs.

Should I get one with USB3 for the quicker transfer speeds?

The second Western Digital is the older version, without any networking features. It shouldn't be more expensive, whoever is selling it is trying to rip you off.

WDTV Live is a decent choice. Its getting on a bit now but they seem to have updated the firmware regularly.

I don't know anything about the Midte player, but it looks pure garbage. I would avoid no-name brands because regular firmware updates are very important. Most of those no-namers are riddled with sync issues and file incompatibilities that never get fixed.

USB 3.0 offers faster file transfers but you certainly don't need that for video playback, USB 2.0 is more than fast enough to play even full BD content several times over. The only advantage would be if it was a player with an internal HDD; a USB 3.0 port would let you copy stuff on a bit faster. Not a big deal imo.

I'm looking for the same type of thing but i just want to keep it in one place (under the TV)

It's a nightmare if your not "into" things like this.
I was looking at the WD TV live HD Media player or

Seagate Go Flex Theatre which looks good but I don't know much about them

    Any help.

I have he WD TV live and its perfect - albeit I stick all my media on to a hard drive rather than any wireless connection. Saying that I also have a Neo media player and its just as good. I picked up a cheapo one on Amazon the other day for £20 - havent used it yet but Id say it will do the job
