Does anyone know the best place to get one.

It came with the 60w magsafe but that seems to be knackered :( I'm out of warranty.

Does the 85w work in it too?

Also is there anywhere to get them cheap and quickly?

Would the chinese shops around Parnell St have them or are they all duds?

    Thanks.

The 85w one will work too. My Wife has a 15" MacBook Pro, and I use her 85w brick with my 13" MBP with no ill effect.

I don't know the Chinese shops in question, but I personally wouldn't buy a 3rd party power supply for my Mac. Although it sounds like your genuine one didn't fare too well.

I'm assuming you're in Dublin. Compu B at the Molly Malone statue will have them.

    Thanks.

Any idea on price? Seems to be €74 on PC World.

The problem I have with mine seems to be a common one? No chance they'll replace it anywhere?

Being honest I wouldn't shell out the price for the official apple charger. I've had my mac 4 years and gone through 4 chargers in that time, 3 were mac ones, i've given up buying them since. Your best bet is to look for a cheap one on ebay.

Also if you know any one who is good with a soldering iron then try get them to fix it for you(lucky for me doing engineering in college you pick up these sort of connections). Most of the time the problem is just a few loose wire. This is at least a good solution while you wait for a new one to be delivered.

Have the same issue with my 15" macbook. its the old connection too and the wire are def lose. Cant afford to be shelling close to 90 for a new charger as going to upgrade before the year is out.

Can anyone recomend a repair place?

if you know anyone who is good with a soldering iron and electronics then get them too take a look at it. It will get it to last for a few extra week at least. I may just be lucky to have done engineering in college and got to met these kind of people and connections
