is it possible to get an irish football jersey without the sponsor logo ''3'' on it? i want to get a present for a friend abroad but don't want that stupid looking sponsor logo on it.

Anybody any ideas or places where i can look to get one.

    cheers

Its a joke, the FAI and Umbro must get hundreds of emails asking for sponsorless jerseys and yet theyre not doing anything about it. Id be willing to pay extra for a jersey with no sponsor.

It really isnt a joke. They get paid a lot of money to put the sponsor on the shirts. Why would the sponsors then be happy for the FAI to start flogging them without their logo on?

But why is it that every other country's jersey can be bought without a sponsor?

Im guessing as usual its about €€€. Probably gets the FAI more money to have that agreement in place?

It was part of a sponsorship deal with Opel way back in the day and so every other sponsor since then have had it in their deal too.

at the match last night i must have seen about 10 people with sponsorless jerseys.

Think there was a post a couple of months back where a boards.ie had to pay an extortionate rate (i think €75-€80) for a sponsor-less jersey. He got it in the FAI store in town.

The only thing I can think of is that they are (or are friends with) players who have played with Ireland at some level such as youth, u-21, amateur, development, schoolboys, ladies, senior etc.

Edit: or what MikeyT says above

I found it on this site a few weeks ago and posted it in the soccer jerseys thread. Don't know if customs are after packages from the site like soccertriads, or what the sizes are like.
