when a radio station has an obligation to have 30% news should it have local news each bulletin? To be a local station should they have local news at weekends too. Or can the local news reader just rad nation/international news from the net/papers

Are they allowed to have a jingle "this is xfm news " and the news come not from them but a feed from wherever the news feeds come from. Used to be INN I think?

The requirement is 20% news and current affairs not 30%. How this is presented on the schedule is different to each station and contained in the Programme Policy Statement that forms part of the contract with the BAI.

I can't see an issue with them stating that it is their news if they are using a network news feed at the weekend.

Well, no, there's no problem using a station ID with a networked news bulletin. It happens all over the world, particularly in North America where it's standard practice with many radio and TV affiliates.

As for having local stories in all locally produced bulletins, this would be ideal in a perfect world but in some catchment areas - particularly at weekends - there can be days when absolutely nothing of note happens to report on. Them's the breaks.
