    Hi all,

I've been working alot recently and noticed that I need a bit of time to clear the head and have a think about what I want to do career-wise and so on.

I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for a holiday/place to visit that isn't too expensive and not too far away as it looks like I'll only to able to get away for a week, two at the most.

I'd probably be going on my own as friends are starting masters and stuff. Plus, I wouldn't mind going somewhere a bit sunny as I've been in Ireland all summer and am dying to see a bit of sun!

I think you need to be a bit more specific, that's probably why you're not getting replies.

What do you like to do? What would you like to do on holidays? Lie in the sun on your own reading and thinking for a week? Meeting up with others? Drinking/ partying with new people? Hiking, cycling, trekking, diving? Join a group adventure tour?

If you give us an idea of your age, interests, gender, things you absolutely don't want to do on holidays, also where you've been before, what you liked/ didn't like, we might be much better able to help you.

    Otherwise just go to Spain....

I was in your position not that long ago, working my ass off, stressed and couldn't find anyone to go away with.
So I said feck it and booked cheap flights to Barcelona for a few days. Stayed in a hostel, got to met so fellow lone travellers and had a blast.
Barcelona is great because it has loads to see and do, or if you just want to chill out its also perfect for that.

It did wonders for me! go for it.

you're right solovely, I should be more specific!

I'm 23, I'm into music, art and culture and am quite outdoorsie too.

I'm just absolutely wrecked and need to clear my head as I feel I can't think clearly anymore. I was originally thinking of a sun holiday as part of me just wants to chill by a pool and read a book and then go out at night but I don't feel like I can go on one of those holidays on my own.

I would like to meet up with other people around my age rather than be stuck somewhere on my own.

I'm open to adventure holidays aswell, just want to go somewhere semi hot and where I won't be on my own!

Have a look into explore.co.uk, contiki or On the Go tours or other adventure travel organisers like that? Most people on those holidays will be solo travellers, you get a good mix or sun and culture and lots of adventure?

Otherwise LC180s suggestion or Barcelona sounds good, somewhere with sun and culture and lots of hostels where you can easily meet other people. Dubrovnik would be good for that too, or an Italian city, maybe like Sorrento?

Do you have a budget in mind?

Thanks solovely for the info, had a look at contiki and the other tours you mentioned and they look good but are a bit out of my price range. I'm just looking to get away for a week or so, budget wouldn't exceed €500.

Barcelona or Valencia or something like that might be the best idea for me at the moment
