I have a Creative ZEN M which is working perfectly well in it's own right but for the life of me I can't seem to get it connected to any of my computers.

I'm want to copy all my music off it to the PC for safe keeping. The original computer used to populate the MP3 player is long since gone.

I've tried it on both XP Pro SP3 & Win 7 Ultimate.

On the XP machine it shows with an exclamation mark in the Device manager. After I installed the recommended Microsoft MTP driver (mtppk12) it shows fine in the Device manager (No exclamation mark) but still won't show as a drive or in explorer.

On Win 7 it just says it being installed but then reports that it failed to install the correct drivers.

    Any ideas?

Still no joy with this. The PC's are just refusing to recognize it.

    Try this:
Hi all, i had the same problem with my Creative Zen M. First it was unable to install my device. I read some posts. It takes 2 min, i solved my problem. My firmware was the latest Firmware version 1.62.02e (Europa)

    Follow this: good luck...

    1. Reset your device

    2. Plug-in to your Win7 PC while your MP3-Player is starting.

wait till Docking-Modus starts o your device.

I hope i can help some Zen M owners.
