I dont know... I always thought about it this way.... an american president will never have a full sleeve because it doesnt look "professional" so I assumed doctors etc would be looked down upon if they had something like that.

the only merit to this thread is my revelation that imported_guy and opinion_guy aren't the same person.

Yes, I made the same mistake in the past.
Thing was, I was a moderator of this forum at the time; I think I threatened the wrong "_guy" with a banning at one point!

Simple answer as one with tats is keep covered

    Too many upturned noses
Occasional difficulty with patients and nurses

Wear long sleeve scrubs if you do it

Not sure if it's the same in Ireland, but I'm studying nursing in England and all staff; doctors, nurses, domestics, porters etc have to have their sleeves above their elbows. Being in an interview, wear long sleeves, They can't fire you because of tattoos.

My hospital requires tattoos in visible areas being covered by some kind of dressing.

The thing is, tattoos are becoming more and more commonplace. Patients have more acceptance of them. It shouldn't be an issue, in this day and age.

People may argue it's looks unprofessional. But I've had bright red hair. Those kinda things don't make someone any less professional.

I'd rather a doctor covered in tattoos, who cares, than a doctor in a slick suit who just cares about his next round of gold.
