Hey - I don't know if this is the place for this thread. Apologies if not.

Oct 8th Last year we got married. I was sick the day before and ended up at the emergency doctor the night before at 11pm. Due to the load of drugs I was given I barely remember the day. I spent the day almost collapsing and having to be revived  It's been bothering me for the year that I didn't give my new husband a good day. He was worried and spent the entire day looking after me.

So for our anniversary I want to do something really very special. Unfortunately, budget again is a consideration, so I'm looking for ideas for something super special for the 2 of us, for less than €150

I've seen some wonderfully thoughtful ideas here for budget saving tips when it comes to the wedding, so I was hoping you could all work your magic and give me some unique ideas. :)

(So far I've come up with camping - but probably not wise to plan a camping trip in October :D )

Look at http://www.dealpage.ie/ everyday and see what comes up as they usually have some really great deals for short breaks.

It's probably too late for you to book it now as the deal ends at midnight but the one for 2 nights B&B + dinner in Kinnitty Castle Hotel for €139 looks really good. http://www.lovoco.ie/

Whispered, I'm sorry to hear how sick you were for your wedding. Its lovely you want to do something nice for your anniversary for your husband.

Have you seen the SuperValu Getaway breaks?
Even if you don't shop in Supervalu, you get 400 Getaway points just for signing up, and that's all you need to book a break without spending a penny in the shop!

You can get a night in a 3* hotel (or a few 4*s) for €39 per person, and there are a huge amount of participating hotels all over the country.

I checked and there are about 60 or 70 hotels available for Oct 8th including Bunratty Castle, The Dublin Hilton (4*), The Maldron (4*) in the centre of Dublin city, Woodenbridge Hotel in Avoca, or lots more. If you go for somewhere remote like Bunratty or Avoca you might have to eat in the hotel so it'd be worth checking their restaurant prices. In a town or city you'll have a bigger choice of restaurants but won't have the romantic settings.

Some hotels are pretty good so if you rang a couple days before you arrive to confirm your booking and tell them its your 1st anniversary, you never know - they might do something like give you a nicer room. They might not, but its no harm trying!
