You're funded to do 60 credits worth of modules per year, so you'd have to pay afaik

I'm pretty sure you cannot - our Department had an issue last year with the final year students who suggested that a number of modules that they do in fourth year should be done in third year to take the pressure off, but they were told that they could only do 60 credits worth of modules and no more, that the Department had looked at it.

Its also under a number of courses, (I haven't had the chance to look at them all) stating that a student may not register for more than 60 credits in one academic year

You can do a university wide module that has five credits. Whether these come into play with exam results I'm not sure. You'll have to ask the very good Byron85 on here for that.

On a fundamental level, why would you want to do more than 60? 60 can be back breaking as it is.

Computer Science second year is supposed to be the worst/hardest year.

There was some course last year that was university wide, I think it was science and society, but I know that you could not count it in your results. I know that was true for us (Elec Eng), not sure about other courses though. If it can't be included though, I really don't see the point of giving yourself extra work for nothing, unless your one of those people who just loves learning about everything and anything.

The results of the UW modules appear on your transcript (if you pass), but they don't count towards your end of year mark or anything. If you wanted to get some utility out of them you could mention them on post-grad applications as proof that you have an interest in academic work as a thing in itself.

The one Byron85 and I did, History and Philosophy and Science, was really good!
