What colour tiles for this kitchen splash-back?

    Hi folks,
I'm looking for some inspiration here...

Can't decide on what colour tiles would suit this kitchen splash-back? It's not a bright apartment so I guess a bright'ish colour would make sense... but for some reason I think gloss black would go well?

    Any ideas much appreciated

Gloss black or gloss red brick stye wall tiles would make the kitchen and walls pop out.

I agree with paddy. Ruby red gloss would look great, especially with the red in the blind. You could also pick up on it with a few red accessories around the place, would really brighten it up!

Thanks guys. I'm glad gloss black was mentioned as I think it would make the place look well.... I may just chance that.

The blind and curtains (at the living area) are red as you can see and the kitchen bits (toaster/microwave etc.) are all silver/stainless steel

    Cheers :)

Maybe something to complement the honey-coloured tiles on the floor?

Have to agree here with Mari2222, you got brown colour tiles on the floor. Your units are brown and cream, sorry but red or black will stick out like a sore thumb.

    My two cents :)

Similar style kitchen and very small and not bright!

I have a very similar kitchen, but with a larger window. I went for a beveled cream tile on the splashback. I then used a strong colour (green - Mirage from the Woodies Range of Timeless paints) on the walls. At least that way you can change the look by repainting. With the red tiles I'd be afraid of it getting bored with it and being stuck with it.

If your feeling brave go with green glass or a duck egg glass.

in wexford town, wexford viking glass have a shop in selskar with really competively priced glass splashbacks in may coulours - basically choose from a thick wad of colour strips like a paint chart!

thick it was 150ish per sheet and extra to get sockets cut but that Im doing is having a square spashblack behind the cooker and a thin strip running around the rest of the counter as is usually done with granite.

    Dont go with granite

Glass splashbacks are becoming very popular these days because of its simple design and ease to clean.

Ah class, thats my kitchen exactly, worktop, hop, extractor etc. Only difference is mine is longer and more L shaped

I have yet to tile mine as well, good advice on this thread.

Thinking probably the gloss black is the best. I am thinking of a glass splashback tho, with a black gloss inch high runner each side of the splash back. No tiles, just paint the remaining walls (I dont do a huge amount of cooking)

Thx for the after pics, have helped me make up my mind :D

Yeah I've recently got some in my kitchen after deciding against tiles.
