Can TCD really deny me registration if I haven't got my police clearance documents in time for it?

Talk to admissions, they told me to request all of them, submit my form to them with a note saying the rest of clearances will follow when they arrive. (Four countries - driving me crazy!)

I'm coming from the USA. What is this about police clearance? All I've heard is that I have to register with the GNIB within a month of arrival.

I'm guessing it is only for courses that there is a level of interaction with the general public, medicine, OT, social work etc.

There is a massive backlog in the Irish garda vetting process so the college doesn't actually receive the documentation well into term. I'm presuming it is the same in different countries. The college is more than likely well aware of this. No harm in giving admissions a ring though.

Unless it asks you to complete a garda vetting form in your orientation pack, then no.

Garda vetting is only required for
    Medicine
    Dental Science
    Physiotherapy
    Occupational Therapy
    Clinical Speech & Language
    Radiation Therapy
    Music Education
    Dental Nursing
    Dental Hygiene
    Nursing
    Midwifery
    Social Work
    Deaf Studies
    Pharmacy

You must complete the form and get it into the Admissions Office before Registration...(apart from Nursing and Midwifery which is organised by the School of Nursing)

If your form is not back before registration you will not be allowed to register until you have done so. For those who have to get clearance from other countries you will be allowed to register once you send your form back to Admissions and tell them that you have requested it.....Admissions Office chase you for it over the next few weeks. But you will be allowed to register pending receipt of the clearance from other countries.

Okay, I'll be going into Midwifery. So basically I just give the Garda Vetting form back to admissions with saying that I'm waiting for my police clearance. Grand so.
