First year of college and moving out?

    Hey guys,

So I'm about to go into my first year of college. And there is only one real thing I'm anxious about and that's about moving out.

I live an hour and a half away form the college I got an offer to. I know nobody who is moving nearer to my college or even applying to a nearby one ( I'm going to TCD ) . Being it TCD, first years can't apply for the Digs.

I suppose I really only have two questions,

I was told that within the first two months of college starting up, people advertise looking for a roommate or whatever. Is this true or is there anything like this about?

Would living such a distance away impair the social aspect of the first few months of college life like with events and stuff?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, it's just been bothering me recently.

There is a TCD forum under the EDU heading, why don't you post this in that section and ask if anyone is doing the same course as you there or 2nd years would most likely give you tips and advice
    Good luck with your studies

Moving away from home can seem daunting at first but it's a wonderful experience. Not living close to campus definitely affects the social aspects. I would say go for it and have a look at the TCD forum here!

Call into the Students' Union in Trinity (House 6, just beside Front Arch). You can talk to their Accommodation Advisory Service there - they run a database explicitly for people to find prospective roommates and housing.
