    Hi folks

We've both been living in the US for the last 6 year and were hoping to get a wedding date booked in Ireland next summer. Anyway, was wondering if, as non residents, we have to pay VAT on the reception, flowers, cars etc?

Or can we make a refund claim when we leave?

    Any info would be great

    Thanks

As far as I am aware you get the vat back on goods which you purchase in Ireland which you are physically brining back to the US with you.
Therefore this would not apply to wedding services.

agree with previous poster - VAT is a tax on goods and services consumed in EU - if you have a wedding in Ireland, you'll be paying Irish VAT here.

if you buy a Newbridge Silverware Cutlery set and bring it back to US, you can get the VAT back on that as you'll be "consuming" (not literally obviously!) it in the US
