What happens to post over the weekends?

Does it all just freeze or do things keep moving?

For example, I have a parcel arriving soon from China.

If it arrvies tomorrow(Saturday) will it just stay in the airport or will it keep moving until it passes through customs and move to a anpost sorting centre or wherever?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

my local postmaster told me that when I post a package on Saturday morning , it stays in local PO until Monday evening .

I get a lot from china, it will not be delivered on Saturday or Sunday.
However it may arrive in the airport/dock (depending on your choice of mail)

But it will remain in the airport/dock until Monday when it will be then cleared by customs. I believe if it's over €30 (thereabouts) it will be further held, you will be contacted (via post / email) and asked to pay the import tax and customs and handling fees. If this happens, it will be dispatched to that day (once they receive payment before bank hours)

Actually there is collections on a saturday so if you post it early it will move to another sorting office, usually somewhere near the destination if it was posted to somewhere in Ireland

Well i'm not sure where your getting these figures like €30 out of and also, only some packages will be examined by customs.I believe only 1 in maybe 50 parcels will be checked/opened by customs! The rest go straight through unless they are suspicious looking in any way!

Also you will not be contacted by post/email if you do have to pay customs fees. You have to pay them to the postman at your door.Im not sure what your buying but I have never once had to deal with customs and received maybe over 50 parcels from china!

    !

Really - Not around here , all post goes to a central sorting office in Portlaoise .

If you post a letter on Saturday morning , it sits in local Po until Monday pm
