Is there any where that will solder a new micro switch to a key fob, in Dublin.

Most places want to replace the whole key which bumps the whole cost up.

DIY? Is it just the debounce switch on the circuit board inside the key?

I did it on a Renault Clio and Mazda 3 key. Easiest thing in the world.

I'm dire at soldering, tend to kill things.

Updated my post BostonB. Can you confirm if its the debounce switch?

Can't see that link at work. I'd have to open and and have another look to confirm.

Was wondering if I might have a spare around that I could open up and see where the switch actually is in the key.

Don't have any random Nissan keys around though.

If that's the problem with the key, then the switch probably just needs to be soldered back onto the circuit board. 5 min job.

I'd be happy to do it for you if you want. PM me your location.

Just to update the thread for the benefit of anyone else.

It may not be clicking because the switch isn't there i.e. it's broken off the board. Or the switch itself is faulty and needs to be replaced.

There is a place called Maplins beside the Blanch shopping centre. It's beside the Starbucks I think. They sell electronic components like this. This is the type of switch inside the key that gives you the click you normally hear. Lads in Maplins should be able to identify a replacement switch (if you need one) if you bring your keyfob into them. I think they have a service dept there too and might solder the new one for you.

Probably the switch itself thats faulty so, as it's obviously still connected to the PCB. Did you check if Maplins can source a replacement?

I never heard back from the original poster who had a fault with their key fob.

Where are you based? Can you post a photo of the broken key fob and replacement switch?

Hi I have a 2001 Merc E200. The button for opening the door broke. I ordered spare micro switches from ebay and soldered one in. All worked fine untill same switch came loose again. I opened it up again and soldered it back in. The red light now comes on when pressed but when checked through a camera lens, no IR signal transmits. any ideas? I am based in Sandyford and because of illness, I rely on the car.

i took mine to a phone shop and asked to see if they could solder new buttons on that i had bought off eBay they charged me 10 euro per button and then asked what was it for ,so now they know they might start going down that road of fixing anything they can and bump the prices up also
