Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of hacking into the Fine Gael website.

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2011/0901/hacking.html

these guys shouldn't be persecuted for what they did, Fine Gael should be thanking them for pointing out a security flaw in their site, they only showed the data to the media to prove their point because Fine Gael were denying there was a problem.

leave em alone fine gael and the cops.

Have you started an online petition to demand their release? Maybe a facebook campaign.

    Did you read that article?
During the course of the search in Birr, equipment and chemicals associated with the production of controlled drugs were also seized.

It is understood the arrests are part of a wider international investigation involving police forces in other jurisdictions.

The operation is linked to investigations into the Anonymous group of hackers who have taken down large global websites in denial of service attacks.

...and the London looters should be thanked for showing shops and businesses their security flaws..

I doubt the Gardai had any choice but to investigate the matter. They accessed the personal details of 2,000 people. It's up to a judge to decide whether or not it warrants a conviction.

But na, they committed a crime and should be prosecuted for it yo.
You could extend your argument to almost any crime. If I beat a guy up, should I be let go because I was only showing him how lacking he is in self defence?

They're not going to be persecuted, hopefully they'll be prosecuted.

I think this was a lot more than just a "hack". Seemed to be part of a much bigger, serious investigation while landing a drugs related bust at the same time. Plus, they took a lot of peoples data during that hack which isn't cool.
