Rent allowance?

I've been on JSA for over 6 mths now.

There is no sign of a job where I live so I've decided to move to Dublin/Galway where I hopefully will find a full time job or do an internship with job bridge.

I'm living with family at the moment.

Does anyone know if I would qualify for rent allowance if I do an internship?

The internship works out at €238, after taking out money for car, food, rent there won't be a cent left.

Does anyone know much about JSA and rent allowance & job bridge?

I have gone on the site but find it terribly confusing!

If you were already receiving Rent Supplement you could hold onto it while on internship with Job Bridge but to qualify for Rent Supplement you have to be either approved by the local authority as being in need of social housing or have been renting privately for 6 months, been able to have afforded the rental when you commenced it and only be looking for the Supplement because you have experienced a change in circumstances (income).

I emailed JobBridge, as I'm moving to Dublin for my internship and will have to stay with family until I find a place. This is what I got back. Not sure if it answers your question...

" Thank you for your e-mail. Information on the National Internship Scheme (NIS) is available on www.jobbridge.ie <http://www.jobbridge.ie/> In order for any individual to qualify for rent allowance they must first apply for a Housing Needs Assessment to the appropriate Local Authority (where they wish to rent the property). If an individual was approved for rent allowance by the local authority they would be entitled to receive this during their internship."

Honestly, I didn't find any answers on the NSI page, and there are so few places in Dublin that accept Rent Allowance. It's a total mess.
