    Hi all,

I have my trial box of lenses almost finished now.
Been using Dailies for astigmatism when playing hurling.

However, I am about to go down the road of buying them now but does anyone know if the standard 1 Day Acuvue will do the same job as the 1 Day Acuvue for Astigmatism??

    What is the difference??

    Thanks for any advice.

It depends on the severity of your astimgatism... you should ask your optician for a trial set on the regular variety.

I have an astigmatism in my right eye but it is not severe enough to require the specialist contact lenses, but I know others who very definitely had to get the special contacts. In my case apparently the natural distortion effect of the tear layer in my eyes was sufficient to cope with the effect of the astigmatism.

AFAIK the +/- affects the depth/zoom on what you are looking at, but the astigmatism effectively twists what you are looking at... if you look through the edge of the lens in your glasses you'd possibly notice the difference compared to looking straight through the center.

    Thanks Lahinch Lass.
Ya, I looked through the side of the glasses and can't notice anything twisting but I could be missing something entirely.

I am going to try the normal ones to see how they go.
I imagine the stats would be the same i.e. Axiz CYl and all that?

The acuvue 1 day will have no cyl or axis as they just correct the spherical part of the prescription. You should try them anyway and see if they are suitable, many people manage just fine with them.
