what reel?????

hey all.only started pike fishing a few months.had a lend of a reel and rod so all good.but now i want to start getting my own gear together.was looking at reels maybe a 4000 or 6000 shimano.what i cant get my head around is the letters after the numbers.what do they mean?or what should i be looking for?
